
Major Tammy McNeal

Major Tammy McNeal has over 27 years of law enforcement experience. She began her career as a Community Service Aide with the Plantation Police Department in 1995. She became a sworn officer the following year for the City of Plantation. Major McNeal joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 1999 as a deputy assigned to road patrol in Lauderdale Lakes. She advanced to serve as a detective assigned to various investigative units, including the Office of Accountability, Strategic Investigation Division - Major Narcotics, and Organized Crime. Major McNeal was promoted in 2006 to sergeant, where she supervised Patrol in Dania Beach, then assisted in the formation and supervision of the Broward Money Laundering Task Force. Before being promoted to lieutenant in early 2015, she had been assigned to BSO's Division of Internal Affairs and Public Corruption Unit. As a lieutenant, she served as the Patrol Commander for the Broward Sheriff's Office Tamarac District and executive officer for the Oakland Park District. Major McNeal was assigned as the City of Oakland Park District Captain from April 2020 to March 2023. Upon promotion to major, she was placed in her current assignment, overseeing the Training Division, Public Safety Building and the Reserves Unit.
Major McNeal graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy – Class 276, the University of Louisville- Southern Police Institute 78th Command Officers Development Course, and the Florida Sheriff's Association's Command Officer's Academy. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management. She is recognized as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and earned several other professional certifications throughout her career. Additionally, Major McNeal is an active member of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association (BCCPA) and the Florida Sheriff's Association.
