Major Barry Lindquist began his law enforcement career with the Broward Sheriff's Office in 2004 as a deputy assigned to the City of Pompano Beach. As a deputy, he served in road patrol and as a Crime Suppression Team detective. In 2013, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and assigned to the Central Broward and Lauderdale Lakes Districts, where he oversaw road patrol before being tasked as the supervisor of the districts' Crime Suppression Team.

In 2016, Major Lindquist was selected to serve as an investigator in Internal Affairs. Two years later, in 2018, he was promoted to lieutenant and assigned as the Executive Officer for the Division of Internal Affairs. In 2020, the Broward Sheriff's Office established the Office of the Inspector General. As part of this initiative, Major Lindquist was promoted to the rank of captain and appointed as an Assistant Inspector General. In this role, he was assigned as the Director of the Division of Internal Investigations and Compliance, overseeing Internal Affairs, Public Corruption, and Staff Inspections.

In 2025, Major Lindquist was promoted to Major and assigned as the agency's Inspector General. In this role, he oversees the Office of the Inspector General, which includes the Division of Internal Investigations and Compliance, Policy & Accountability, Internal Audit, and CJIS Compliance.

Major Lindquist holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and a Master of Public Administration from Lynn University. He is a Certified Inspector General Investigator and Certified Inspector General, recognized by the Association of Inspectors General Institute. Additionally, he has completed the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy and is a graduate of the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute 86th Command Officers Development Course. In September 2025, he graduated from the FBI National Academy, Session 295.
