Major
Major Audrey Jones had 20 years of prior law enforcement experience before joining the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) in 2013. After joining BSO, she was assigned to the Civil Division as its Captain. The Civil Division is responsible for the service of process and execution of writs.
In 2015, she became the Commander of the Child Protective Investigations Section, providing administration and overall management to sworn and civilian personnel within the division. She exercised initiative in directing and guiding the department, and critical judgment in determining the department's responses to specific or unusual conditions. These decisions enhanced the health and safety of Broward County's children while concurrently supporting their families by providing effective, fair, efficient, and timely investigations involving cases of child neglect, abuse, and/or abandonment.
In 2017, she was assigned as Captain, overseeing Special Events & Logistics, the Public Safety Building, the Honor Guard Unit, Crime Stoppers, and the Community Service Aide Program. She was responsible for collaborating with other agency components and external partners to provide a wide range of logistic operations, programs, services, and events. She was responsible for the 24/7 security of the Broward Sheriff's Office headquarters. She oversaw the Honor Guard Unit, which performs ceremonial duties, including honoring veterans and dignitaries, as well as paying respect to the fallen. She created and facilitated the first BSO Honor Guard Academy, from which five deputies graduated. Regarding Crime Stoppers, she ensured the anonymity of tipsters, serving as the liaison between the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors and law enforcement agencies in Broward County, as well as other local and federal municipalities.
In 2019, the Homeless Outreach Team, Crisis Intervention Team, Posse Unit, and Parking Enforcement Unit were added to her responsibilities. In 2021, the Baker Act Team was also assigned to her.
