Youth and Neighborhood Services Bureau
Major
Major Anthony DeMarco transitioned from a career as an educator to begin a law enforcement career with the Broward Sheriff’s Office in September 1995. His first assignment was as a road patrol deputy in Deerfield Beach. In 1999, he was selected to serve as a school resource deputy and spent two years in that capacity.
During his tenure with BSO, Major DeMarco has served as a sergeant, lieutenant and acting captain within various youth services-related and community outreach units. He has played crucial roles as the operations lieutenant in North Lauderdale and Weston. Those experiences allowed him to advance his career and serve as the executive lieutenant in the Central Broward district, Dania Beach and the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. In May 2017, he returned to Weston after being named the district's executive lieutenant.
In December 2018, he was promoted to captain and assigned to the newly formed Juvenile Section of the Broward Sheriff’s Office. In November 2019, Major DeMarco was promoted to his present rank and now oversees many community outreach and juvenile-related units within the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Major DeMarco holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Nova Southeastern University and several professional certificates. He is also a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program hosted by Nova Southeastern University and the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute’s Command Officers Development Course.
