Lieutenant Richard Giddarie began his career with the Broward Sheriff's Office as a detention deputy in June of 1997. He has served in various capacities, including field training deputy, fire safety inspector and a member of the Special Response Unit. In addition, he supervised staff in the Baker Act/Marchman Act Unit, Transportation Unit, Hospital Details, Magistrate and the Booking/Release Process of all inmates in Broward County custody.

Lt. Giddarie was promoted to sergeant in January 2005. He was promoted to lieutenant in May 2017. In October of 2021, he rose to the rank of executive lieutenant.

Lt. Giddarie holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
