Lieutenant Colonel Osvaldo “Ozzy” Tianga embarked on his law enforcement journey at the Broward Sheriff’s Office in November of 1997. Commencing as a detention deputy in the jail, Lt. Colonel Tianga then transitioned to a patrol deputy role within the Department of Law Enforcement. His early tenure in patrol bore witness to his exceptional perseverance and innovative approaches to crime suppression, leading to a rapid promotion to the role of detective.

In 2010, he ascended to the rank of Sergeant, where he expertly supervised uniformed road patrol and district Crime Suppression Teams (CST). His leadership extended to specialized units within the Strategic Investigations Division, overseeing multiple agencies within the Metro Broward Drug Task Force (MBDTF). Notably, he played a pivotal role in implementing the agency’s inaugural Violence Intervention Protective Enforcement Response (VIPER) Unit.

Elevating his career further in 2015, Lt. Colonel Tianga assumed the role of Lieutenant. As a shift commander of uniform patrol, he directed the CST within the City of Deerfield Beach. His impact extended to the creation of the Deerfield Beach Tactical Deployment Team (TDT), focusing on proactively addressing gang activity, street-level crime, and community policing.

In 2017, Lt. Colonel Tianga achieved the rank of Captain, undertaking the pivotal role of Courthouse District Chief. Overseeing the 17th Judicial Circuit, which encompasses Broward County's Main Judicial Complex, as well as the West, North, and South Satellite Courthouses, the 540 Building, and BSO services at the Broward County Governmental Center, his responsibilities were extensive. He orchestrated the day-to-day security and operations of all circuit and county courts in Broward, managing a diverse team of 90 judges, 11 general magistrates, and over 1,500 criminal justice employees. With an annual budget exceeding $23 million, he efficiently managed 206 budgeted positions encompassing Court Security, Court Bailiff, and the Court Liaison unit.

Lt. Colonel Tianga holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Barry University, successfully completed the Executive Leadership Academy at Northwestern University and he has completed over 1000 hours of specialized law enforcement and emergency management training. His outstanding public service has garnered numerous awards and honors, a testament to his unwavering commitment and exceptional contributions to the law enforcement profession.
