Lieutenant Colonel Christopher De Giovanni

Department of Law Enforcement

Lieutenant Colonel Christopher De Giovanni joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 2004. He was assigned to the Department of Law Enforcement, serving as a road patrol deputy and later a property crimes detective in Dania Beach. In addition to his full-time employment, he volunteered and served in the agency's Field Force Unit, specializing in crowd control and management.

Thereafter, he was promoted to sergeant and reassigned to the Pompano Beach District. He later assumed the role of a detective sergeant, overseeing both the Criminal Investigations and Crime Suppression Units in the South Broward District. Later, he was promoted to lieutenant and reassigned to serve the South Broward District as the executive officer. In October 2020, he was promoted and selected to serve as the District Captain in Cooper City. During his time in Cooper City, he oversaw many vital projects to include the buildout of a state-of-the-art Real-Time Crime Center. In February 2025, he was selected to serve as the new major over the north region, patrol operations. In February 2026, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel over the Department of Law Enforcement.

Lt. Colonel De Giovanni is an active member of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association and is a graduate of the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute, 86th Command Officers Development Course.

Before joining the Broward Sheriff's Office, Lt. Colonel De Giovanni proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Marines, he participated in two combat tours overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a distinguishing "V" for combat valor and a Presidential Unit Citation, amongst other awards and medals.

Lt. Colonel De Giovanni holds a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies and Pastoral Ministries. He continued his education by earning his Master of Arts in the same field and graduated valedictorian.

He and his wife are parents to seven children: six sons and one daughter.
