Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) Crime Laboratory, part of the Forensic Services Division, provides scientific forensic analysis of physical evidence for all public law enforcement agencies in Broward County, Florida.

BSOCL is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) as a testing laboratory in the following forensic disciplines:

• Biology (DNA)
• Firearms and Toolmarks
• Friction Ridge (Latent Print Examination)
• Seized Drugs (Controlled Substances Analysis)

The laboratory is accredited to the following standards and requirements:

• ISO/IEC 17025: General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories
• FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories
• ANAB Accreditation Requirements for Forensic Testing Laboratories

This accreditation reflects BSOCL's commitment to scientific integrity, operational excellence and continuous improvement in forensic services.

Welcome to the Broward Sheriff's Office Crime Laboratory (BSOCL) website. BSOCL is proud to be the only full-service, internationally accredited forensic laboratory in Broward County. As one of the first Sheriff's Office crime laboratories in the nation to achieve accreditation, BSOCL is a recognized leader in the forensic science community.

Located in the Broward County Courthouse, our laboratory employs 60 dedicated professionals and serves over 2 million residents across the county. BSOCL has been honored as a multi-year recipient of the FORESIGHT Maximus Award, recognizing laboratories that operate at 90% or better of peak efficiency and productivity.

Our forensic scientists—supported by a skilled and hardworking support staff—are experts across multiple forensic disciplines, committed to serving the needs of the criminal justice system with integrity and precision. We are proud that approximately 80% of our scientists hold professional certifications from leading organizations, including the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC), the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) and the International Association for Identification (IAI).
