Fire Chief

Chief Timothy Keefe began his fire rescue career with the City of Wilton Manors as a firefighter in 1989. He rose through the ranks to fire chief and assistant emergency management director in 1996. Chief Keefe joined the Town of Pembroke Park as their fire chief and led them through their merger and transition with Broward County Fire Rescue at the end of 1999. While in Broward County, he was assigned as a district chief of Pembroke Park and field operations Battalion Chief, working in all areas of the county, including Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and the Special Operations Command.
In 2003, Broward County Fire Rescue merged with the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Chief Keefe began the SWAT medic program for the Sheriff’s Office and served as the first medic for the team. He also trained and certified members of the Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue Teams and the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 2. He was also instrumental in migrating the county towards a single-mission fire/aeromedical helicopter program currently in development and transition. As deputy fire chief, he was assigned to operations. He managed all day-to-day activities of the uniformed and civilian members assigned to that branch. He was named fire chief in March 2023.
Chief Keefe holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University, a bachelor’s degree in Management from Barry University and an associate’s degree in Fire Science from Broward College. He is also certified in the State of Florida as a firefighter, paramedic, fire inspector and instructor. He is also a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Florida Fire Chiefs Association.
