
Colonel Oscar Llerena

Colonel Oscar Llerena is a 24-year veteran of the Broward Sheriff's Office. He has served in a variety of assignments, including Patrol Services, Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, Community Services, and Professional Standards. He has held seven different supervisory or command-level ranks, including an assignment as district chief and watch commander, prior to achieving his current rank of colonel.
Colonel Llerena is also a Florida CJSTC-certified instructor in several fields and is certified as an assessor by both the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA).
He is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) at Boston University, the FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute and the Southern Police Institute's Chief Executive Leadership course. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from the University of Miami.
Colonel Llerena is a contributing member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Florida Sheriff's Association, the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association and the National Tactical Officers Association.
