Captain Sam Cavalieri is a 30-year veteran of the Broward Sheriff's Office. He first began his career in 1989 as a deputy assigned to the Department of Detention.  In 1990, he was hired as a police officer with the Pompano Beach Police Department. In 1999, the PBPD merged with BSO. Shortly after, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division where he investigated property crimes, violent crimes, sex crimes, economic crimes and child/animal abuse. In 2004, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant where he was assigned to Road Patrol and Criminal Investigations. In 2014, he was once again promoted to the rank of lieutenant. As a lieutenant, he has served in the Pompano Beach District, Child Protective Investigations Services and the Weston District, where he is currently assigned as the captain. 

Captain Cavalieri is a graduate of the University of Louisville/Southern Police Institute, 46th Command Officers Development Course.
