Captain Kerwin Hankerson

Captain Kerwin Hankerson began his career with the Broward Sheriff Office in 2001 when he completed the 146th correction academy at Broward College.  He was assigned to the Joseph Conte Facility, where he oversaw direct supervision units. Captain Hankerson later transferred to the Main Jail, where he supervised various custody levels from juvenile to maximum custody.

In 2015 Captain Hankerson was promoted to Sergeant. In 2018 he was promoted to shift Lieutenant. In November of 2019, he was promoted to the position of Executive Lieutenant over Operation of the Main Jail.  In 2023, he was promoted to the rank of captain and is assigned to the North Broward Facility.

Captain Hankerson attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2003 Captain Hankerson completed the Palm Beach College cross-certified course as a Law Enforcement Officer. Captain Hankerson was a member of the Emergency Response Team for several years.
