Captain Karen Archibald

Captain Karen Archibald joined the Broward Sheriff’s Office in November 2000 as a detention deputy and was assigned to North Broward Bureau. Her responsibilities included the care, custody and control of mental health, protective custody along with offenders housed in the Infirmary. Captain Archibald also served as a Field Training Deputy and earned the title of Certified Jail Officer from the American Jail Association in 2009. In 2012, she was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to Central Intake. She was responsible for transportation of inmates, hospital details, releasing and bookings, vehicle inventory for DOD, staffing hurricane shelters and the baker unit. In 2016, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where she was a shift commander in Central Intake. In 2017, she was promoted to the rank of Executive Officer in Central Intake. In 2019, she was transferred to the Main Jail Bureau as Executive Officer. She is currently the Captain of the Paul Rein Facility
Captain Archibald is a graduate of Miami Dade College with an Associate in Arts Degree in Education earned in 1997 and a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work earned in 2000. She is also a graduate of the Supervisor Leadership Academy, a graduate of the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute 78th Command Officers Development Course, a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy Class #32 and is a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society.
