Captain Eddison Ricketts began his career with the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) on January 6, 1997, as a Cadet in the 126th Corrections Academy at the Broward Community College. Prior to joining BSO, Captain Ricketts served in the United States Army for 8 years which included a deployment to the Iraq war, Operation Desert Storm/Shield. In, 1998 Captain Ricketts attended and successfully completed the Cross Over Police Academy.  

As a Deputy, Captain Ricketts worked at the Stockade Facility for 10 years until he got promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2007. As a Sergeant, Captain Ricketts worked at the Paul Rein Facility as a Tower Sergeant and as a Security Sergeant and at the Main Jail Facility as the 7th floor Sergeant. In March of 2013, Captain Ricketts was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, he has worked as the shift commander at the Paul Rein Facility, Main Jail, and North Broward Bureau. In 2019, Captain Ricketts was assigned as the Executive Officer Lieutenant at the Paul Rein Facility. In February of 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Since then, he has served as a Captain at all the facilities and is currently assigned as the Captain at the Joseph V. Conte.

Captain Ricketts holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University. Captain Ricketts is a graduate of the Supervisor Leadership Academy, the National Jail Leaders Corrections Academy (NJLCA) at Sam Houston State College in Texas and the Correctional Leadership Development Course from the US Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections. Captain Ricketts has held the position of President of the Federation of Police Union Lodge 53 for four years before giving up that position when he was promoted to Captain.
